Plenty of activities to keep busy this summer

A variety of activities are scheduled around the area. Das Awkscht Fescht will be held in Macungie Memorial Park Aug. 2 through 4, Alburtis 5K, Quinna Schleicher Fun Run and Paws in the Park Aug. 13, The Allentown Fair and of course, Christmas in July. Shops in the malls are advertising their back to school sales and for the early birds, Christmas cards and ornaments are available. Maybe pictures of snow and sleigh rides will make this blistering heat more bearable.

For a relaxing Sunday afternoon, visit Alburtis Park. Enjoy country music at its best 3 to 7 p.m. July 28: Sidekick Band; Aug. 4: Texas Fever; Aug. 11: The Moore Brothers Band; Aug. 18: Bill Murray and the Crossover Band; Aug. 25: Armed Forces Day with Country Rhythm. The park is located at 328 S. Main Street, next to the fire company.

Mr. Potato Head storytime will be held at the Lower Macungie Library 10 a.m. Aug. 3, for children ages two through six.

The Lower Macungie Senior Citizens meet at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center noon Aug. 6 and 20. Bingo and other games are played after a business meeting. Entertainment is also included Aug. 20.

Ancient Oak Women's Organization news resumes next month. All Ancient Oak women are invited to join this active organization.
