STUDENT OF THE WEEK Zach Miller
Q. What grade did you just complete?
A. I just completed my senior year at Salisbury High School.
Q. What was your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject was physics, because my teacher Mr. Koba engaged the class with labs and lectures to help teach us about how the world around us works through the perspective of physics.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I was inducted into National Honor Society, as well as receiving the staff award at graduation.
Q. What extracurricular activities were you involved in, both in and out of school?
A. Throughout my time at Salisbury, I was involved with both the concert and jazz bands, worked the audio board and played drums in theater productions and sprinted for the track and field team. Outside of the school, I helped teach a drumline through the YEA organization and work at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. After high school, I am going to the Pennsylvania State University with the hopes of dual majoring in aerospace and mechanical engineering.
Q. What would you say your biggest challenge was so far?
A. My biggest challenge so far was learning how to effectively manage time. Trying to balance my extracurricular activities as well as work and school was initially difficult, but it was a lesson I am glad to have learned in high school.
Q. What do you want to be remembered for?
A. I would want to be remembered for leaving a positive influence on the people around me and always trying to reach out a helping hand to those in need.
Q. Who is in your family
A. My mother Cheryl, my sister Kayla and my father Thomas.
Q. Do you have someone you look up to?
A. I look up to my grandfather Roland Houseknecht, because he taught me many valuable lessons throughout my childhood. His lessons have instilled a sense of values that I cherish and use everyday.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. My advice to my peers would be to make the most out of the time you have in high school. Never be afraid to meet new people, try new things, and open your mind because you may find something special that before would have been tossed aside.
