STUDENT OF THE WEEK Sarah Kazmierski
Q: What grade did you just complete?
A: I just completed 12th grade at Emmaus High School.
Q: What was your favorite subject? Why?
A: My favorite subject was English because I like reading and writing. It is a fun way to express myself.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: I have received awards for field hockey and lacrosse and then honor roll awards.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: I played lacrosse for three years and field hockey all four years. I was also in the Pediatric Cancer Club, which is an amazing club started this year by two football players. We raise awareness and money for pediatric cancer.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: I am going to Old Dominion University to play field hockey and study fashion marketing.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: My biggest challenge so far has been deciding where I want to go to college. Because I play field hockey it was not all about academics. The school had to have the major I wanted to study, but it also had to have a coach that I love and a team that I wanted to play for. I was lucky to find a college that has both things and I am so excited to go.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I want to be remembered for the accomplishments I have made academically and athletically. All throughout high school, I had to work hard athletically and academically. I wish I could say I never studied and got good grades, but I am not like that. I had to work hard for what I want and I want people to know that if you work hard for something, you will get the results you want. I also want to be someone that the little kids I coach look up to and want to be like.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My father, Tim; my mother, Darlene; my brother, Ryan; my dog, Maddie and my cat, Lily.
Q: Do you have someone you look up to?
A: I look up to my nana, Hope Kazmierski. She has the biggest heart and she is the strongest woman I know. She does not let anything or anyone get her down. She has the best personality and will make friends with anyone anywhere. She has the ability to make anyone laugh and she is definitely someone that I try to be like every day. I love her so much.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: My advice would be to not expect anything to happen unless you are willing to try and make it happen. Nothing comes easy, but if you try your hardest you will eventually get there.
