Joseph Smith, a member of the Whitehall High School Class of 2013, accepts this year's Ben Yorgey Memorial Award from Ardy Yorgey, left, and Kent Yorgey. The award was presented during the WHS senior awards ceremony June 13. The Ben Yorgey Foundation, dedicated to honoring young people with intellectual disabilities, was established in September 2009 in memory of Ben Yorgey, who died unexpectedly in May 2009. Ben was an East Penn student who graduated in 2006. The Ben Yorgey Memorial Award is given to those students who, like Ben, make a positive impact on the world around them.
