UPPER AND LOWER MILFORD COLUMN St. Peter's annual community picnic includes car show and tractor pulls
It's hard to believe, since it's barely July, but fall sports registrations for Upper Milford Youth Association are now open. UMYA fall sports include soccer, kinder soccer, baseball and softball. Visit the registration page at www. umya.org to sign up.

St. Peter's Union Church's annual community picnic will be held 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 20. This fun event will include a tractor show and pulls, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and antique, classic cars and street rods noon to 4 p.m. Call 610-682-7377 for more information on the car show.
There will be games and activities for children noon to 5 p.m., including hayrides till 3 p.m.
There will also be a used book sale, 4 to 6 p.m. and music by Mike Hertzog and the Blue Mountain Gang 6 to 9 p.m. Food will be available beginning noon. Make a donation of money or food for the local food pantry for parking.
The following programs will be presented at Milford Park Bible Camp in July: 7 p.m. July 6, there will be a gospel concert with "Witness" of Easton. Saturday, July 13 is ladies day at Milford Park; 10:30 a.m. Diane Purdin from Faith Church of Trexlertown will speak on the topic, "Road Signs of the Christian Life." There will be a ladies lunch, noon. Call 610-967-5382 for tickets. There is a charge. That evening 7 p.m. there will be a gospel concert by Dave Pettigrew of Ridgewood, N.J. Sunnyside Gospel Bluegrass, of Denver, Pa., will be in concert 7 p.m. July 20. The Stevens Family of Warren, Ohio will be in concert 7 p.m. July 27.

The Upper Milford Western District Fire Co. #1 Ladies Auxiliary meets 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at the firehouse. They are always looking for new members.
Vacation Bible school at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit will be held 9:15 a.m.to noon July 8 to 12. It is open to children age four (age three with preschool experience) to entering grade five. Volunteers are also needed to help out. Contact the church office.
If you would like to become more involved in Upper Milford Township affairs, there are currently three vacant seats that need to be filled on the open space committee. The environmental advisory committee is always interested in citizen volunteers to assist with projects and education. If you are interested and have some extra time, complete an application and submit it to the township office.
Due to the July 4 holiday, Upper Milford Township supervisors have canceled their first meeting in July. They will hold just one meeting, Thursday, July 18.
Vera Cruz senior citizens regular meetings will be held 1 p.m. July 4 and 18.
The Upper Milford Recreation Commission meets 7:30 p.m. July 17.
The Emmaus-Upper Milford Joint Advisory Council will meet 7:30 p.m. July 23 in Upper Milford.
Upper Milford Zoning Hearing Board will meet 7:30 p.m. July 8, in the township building. Two appeals are on the agenda; one requesting an interpretation and/or variance to continue a three-unit dwelling on Fountain Road, and one seeking a special exception to construct a house addition containing a dwelling unit on German Road.

Upper Milford Western District Fire Co. #1 holds its breakfast buffet July 7. In August the breakfast will be Aug. 4.

Looking ahead, Lower Milford Township's Fall Festival will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 28, rain or shine.
