Charlie Barebo is coming off a successful baseball season at Notre Dame (Green Pond), playing for a team that finished second in District 11. Now, Barebo is spending his summer with the Emmaus Legion team, honing his craft even more.
"It was a great experience to play on a team that did that well," said Barebo, who will be a junior at Notre Dame next school year.
Living in the East Penn School District but attending Notre Dame is quite a commute for Barebo, but it's one that he's glad he's getting the opportunity to make.
"The education that you get there is great and it's a nice school," he said. "Plus the athletics, so it's really a great opportunity for me."
As for the future of his baseball career at Notre Dame, things are looking bright. The Crusaders were 15-9 this season and lost in the District 11 Class AA finals to Salisbury, who went on to PIAA semifinal.
"We should be pretty good," said Barebo. "We lose a few players because of graduation, but there are some other guys who should be able to step in and help us, so I think we'll be good again next year."
For some players, coming from a team that accomplished all that Notre Dame did this season to a legion team that is currently 4-7 could be a letdown, but Barebo is looking at it differently.
"I love playing the game and the more I get to play, the better I'll be," he said. "Obviously, you like to win, but there are some good players on this team and I'm getting the chance to play."
