Aggravated assault

Patricia Lee Mitchell, 55, of Lower Milford Township, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment after she allegedly fired a handgun at a 61-year-old man while he was sleeping on the living room floor in a residence in the 6700 block of Vera Cruz Road South, 3:05 a.m. June 22. Mitchell then allegedly fled the scene in her vehicle and was later located and charged in District Court 31-1-03.

Theft

Reported at a residence along Hamlet Drive, Lower Macungie Township, unknown actors took a burnt orange Mongoose BMX bicycle from the back porch and fled in an unknown direction sometime May 12. Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police-Fogelsville at 610-395-1438.

Reported at a residence in the 3600 block of Chestnut Street, Upper Milford Township, unknown actors cut and removed copper piping from the basement of the residence between 8 a.m. May 28 and 3 p.m. May 31. The incident remains under investigation.

Retail theft

Three people were charged with retail theft in separate incidents at Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township. David Michael Neff, 54, of Allentown, was charged with retail theft after he was seen by loss prevention personnel allegedly taking two 8000 BTU air conditioning units valued at $398 and leaving the store without paying for the items 2:42 p.m. June 1. Charges were filed in District Court 31-3-02.

Peggy A Griffin, 33, of Allentown, was arrested, charged and arraigned for retail theft after she allegedly took $228 in merchandise from Walmart, 2:30 p.m. June 5. A loss prevention associate saw Griffin allegedly take the items, detained Griffin and waited for police to arrive.

Jesse Lee Vanloan, 29, of Pen Argyl, was charged with retail theft after loss prevention personnel observed him allegedly unwrapping merchandise which he had not paid for and placing it in his backpack 2 p.m. June 11. Loss prevention personnel allegedly found more unpaid merchandise in Vanloan's backpack. Charges were filed with District Court 31-3-02.

DUI

Joy Ann Mammele, 52, of Quakertown, was arrested for alleged driving under the influence related offenses after a traffic stop at Spinnerstown Road and Orchard Road, Lower Milford Township, 10:49 p.m. May 29.

Samuel Murphy, 22, of Emmaus, was arrested for alleged suspicion of marijuana impairment after a traffic stop on Minesite Road at Riverbend Road 10:27 p.m. May 31. Murphy also was suspected of allegedly being in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending laboratory analysis and a search warrant for Murphy's vehicle.

Attempted burglary

Reported in the 5300 block of Beaumont Lane, Lower Macungie Township, overnight June 2, an unknown actor opened a shed door and attempted to get in but was presumably scared away from the scene when a ladder leaning against the shed door fell. It is believed entry was not made and nothing appeared to be disturbed or missing.

Burglary

Reported in the 2300 block of Brunner Road, Upper Milford Township, unknown actors entered an upstairs window using a ladder and removed multiple items from the home between noon and 6 p.m. May 31. Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police-Fogelsville at 610-395-1438.

Reported in the 4900 block of Beck Road, Upper Milford Township, between 10 a.m. and 3:38 p.m. May 29, an unknown actor entered an unlocked window and took several items including an Apple iPad and some pieces of jewelry. The investigation continues.

Reported in the 7600 block of Kings Highway South, Lower Milford Township, an unknown actor broke a window in the front door and took a jar full of change and a firearm overnight May 26. The investigation continues.

Reported in the 4000 block of Churchview Road, Upper Milford Township, unknown actors forced their way into the residence and took various items from the home between 7:50 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. May 29.
