It's carnival time! The Lower Milford Fire Company annual carnival will be held June 12 to 15 on the fire company grounds on Limeport Pike. Grounds open every night 6 p.m. and rides and music begin 7 p.m. There is live music every night, with rides by Good Time Amusements.
Friday, June 14 is fireworks night, with a per car parking charge. Rain date for the fireworks is Saturday.
Volunteers are still needed to help out in a variety of capacities with this important fundraiser. If you can help, call Karen at 610-349-1276.
The main fundraiser for Upper Milford Western District Fire Co. #1 is a chicken barbecue dinner to be held June 22. Eat in or take out 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The dinner includes a half-chicken, applesauce, baked potato, roll and butter. Enjoy a delicious dinner at a bargain price and help out your fire company. The series presented by the Emmaus and Upper Milford Environmental Advisory Council, "South Mountain; Our Backyard: Past, Today, and Tomorrow" concludes 7 to 9 p.m. June 18.
The final program is "From the Mountain to our Backyards: Bringing nature to our yards and parks." It will be presented in the Upper Milford Township building.
Upper Milford Youth Association President Matt Skekel reports the spring season of youth athletics has been very successful. An outfield fence was added to the lower field at Lenape Park. Spring saw record registrations for both baseball and soccer and the softball program had higher than expected registrations
Kickball 2013 registration is now open for ages five to 11 at Lenape Park. Play is Tuesdays and Thursdays with Saturday rain dates July 9 to Aug. 15. Register at www.umya. org.
There are a few new volunteers on the UMYA board, including Liz Vogel, the new secretary; Kim Cramsey, the new treasurer; Mike Naratil, the new softball coordinator; Laura Mory, the new snack bar coordinator; and Matt Mory, a new board member. Congrats to Henry Kradjel of Upper Milford Township. He was honored at the supervisors' May 16 meeting for 40 years of service to the township in various capacities, including on the planning commission, as supervisor and as zoning officer.
Supervisors Chairman Daniel Mohr read a statement thanking Kradjel "for his true commitment and desire to make our community a wonderful place to live."
The Upper Milford Western District Fire Co. #1 Ladies Auxiliary meets 7 p.m. July 2 at the firehouse. They are always looking for new members and new ideas.
Vacation Bible School at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit will be held 9:15 a.m.to noon July 8 to 12. It is open to children age four (three with preschool experience) to students entering fifth grade. Volunteers are also needed to help out. Contact the church office at 610-967-2220.
St. Peter's Union Church will be joining Zion's Lutheran Church and the other churches of Old Zionsville to sponsor Vacation Bible Cchool 9 to 11:30 a.m. June 24 to 28. For that week, St. Peter's Place and Grove will be transformed into a "medieval castle" where "kids stand strong for God."
