The Kiwanis Club of Emmaus will host its 40th annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfast 8 a.m. to noon June 2 at Emaus Fire Company #1, Sixth and Broad streets. Emmaus' community-wide June 1 yard sale is a perfect time to pick up some "treasures" or to sell a treasure to someone else (rain date: June 2). No permits required.
Emmaus Garden Club invites the public to the 12:30 p.m. June 4 meeting at Faith Presbyterian Church, Second and Cherokee streets. The program "Secrets of a Landscape Designer" presented by Bridget Huzar will be very helpful if you are working with a small cottage garden, a large formal estate garden or only have a "postage stamp" garden. The Emmaus Main Street Partners will sponsor a sidewalk sale at various shops throughout Emmaus, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 8. The sidewalk sales continue on the second Saturday of every month. For information, call 610-965-2174.

All senior citizens over the age of 55 are invited to the Emmaus Senior Citizens meetings at St. Matthew's E.C. Church, Ridge and Fifth streets. The group meets 1 p.m. Fridays. The Emmaus Main Street Partners will host its eighth annual golf classic June 24. Registration is 7 a.m. with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The event is held rain or shine at Shepherd Hills Golf Club. The cost includes tournament greens fees, beverages at the turn, steak lunch, gifts and an opportunity to win prizes and other awards. Emmaus Borough Council will meet 7 p.m. June 3 and 17 in council chambers, 28 S. Fourth St. Registrations are currently being taken for the 2013 Summer Parks Program for residents between the ages of five and 12 years old. The program is held 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, June 24 to Aug. 2. Due to the continual increase in interest and demand, all registrations must be completed prior to children participating in the program. Photo ID is required at the time of registration. The society will be hosting its annual picnic 5 p.m. June 19. Guests are welcome but are asked to contribute a small fee, which then includes a 2013 membership. The society will hold a yard sale 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 1 (the same day as the borough's community-wide yard sale) at the museum, 563 Chestnut St. If you have items to donate, the group will be accepting deliveries noon to 7 p.m. May 29 and 30 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 31. Please do not donate upholstered furniture, clothing or shoes.
The Emmaus Special Entertainment Commission has loads of fun activities in store for Emmaus families during the summer months. First Friday Family Fun Nights will feature Dave Fry, 6 to 9 p.m. June 7 in the Arts Pavilion at Community Park. Dance with the DJ Dutch will be held 4 to 7 p.m. June 20 at the pool. Musical groups featured in June in the Summer Concert Series which is held 6 p.m. every Sunday include: June 2– Johnny Dee Orchestra; June 9– The Ultra Kings; June 16– Nicole Donatone and the Hawks; June 23– Bootleg Express and June 30– Inch and the Echoes (note time: 5 to 8 p.m.). Don't forget to register for the library's Summer Reading Program, "Dig into Reading," which begins June 17. The Summer Reading Club kick off program at the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., is 7 p.m. June 17. The library is hosting a summer reading program for adults, "Groundbreaking Reads," which will be held June 3 through July 30. The library staff will host a special open house event on "Groundbreaking Technology" 2 to 8 p.m. July 26. The staff will demonstrate and help patrons with the Overdrive site for eBooks and eaudiobooks and show the newest addition to the world of downloads. The dedication for the new Community Center for the Arts located on the second floor in the Emmaus borough town hall, 28 S. Fourth St., will be held 6:30 p.m. May 31. This is an exciting endeavor and the Emmaus Arts Commission is to be applauded for its efforts in developing this center. The center will host a variety of year-round exhibitions, concerts, lectures, poetry readings and arts education programs.
