LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

ALBURTIS COLUMN

Next Monday, May 27, we celebrate Memorial Day. It is a day dedicated to all those men and women who have served or are serving in the armed forces. Also to those buried here or abroad, those in veterans hospitals, and the many who are now civilians. This time last year the sound of gunfire, the boom of cannons thundered across countries. Nothing has changed. Only the names of some countries. In my column last year, I asked if we could give our men and women the gift of silence. The silence that comes with the end of battle, of bombs, of gunfire. Maybe, with the help of God, that silence will thunder around the world next Memorial Day.
