The Emmaus boys tennis team ended the season at the most important team match District 11 has to offer.
The Hornets took on Parkland in Saturday's District 11 title match, falling to the Trojans 3-0.
"Parkland has a great team as far as depth on their team," said Emmaus head coach Dimitri Diamandopoulos. "They constantly reload with top players. Our team definitely has some stars. Walking into this match, I knew we lost in the regular season, I thought maybe with this match we could have had something going."
Emmaus went 13-2 this season, including a 10-1 Lehigh Valley Conference record. After earning the No. 3 seed in the district tournament, the Hornets beat both Pocono Mountain East and No. 2 seed Stroudsburg by 5-0 scores to get a shot at the defending champ Trojans.
Despite the loss, Dimandopoulos was pleased with the season.
"We're just a great group of guys," he said. "These guys are a great team. I'm glad we made it to the finals. I'm glad for my seniors that they had this experience. It's a good thing."
Emmaus' top two singles players return next year in freshman No. 1 Matt FitzMaurice and junior No. 2 Rowan Hobson.
The Hornets will graduate some key players from this year's line up, including RJ Dave, Mike Hensler, Ryan Jaeger, Kevin Fine and Gavin Daugherty.
