The ninth annual Nicholas Caldarelli Memorial 5K was held May 5 in the Lehigh Parkway.

Sponsored by the Central Catholic High School student council, this event was once again a great success. Many CCHS students and alumni, along with members of the Allentown Fire Department, participated in the race.

CCHS alum, Colin Fitzgerald won the race, followed by current CCHS senior Tyler Fox.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the Nicholas Caldarelli Memorial Fund, which helps to raise awareness for the hazards of driving under the influence.

CCHS will be hosting information sessions for prospective students of the class of 2017. Sessions include a brief overview of academics, tuition assistance and spiritual life, along with a student-led panel and school tour. The CCHS Ambassadors and Viking Mentors, student-based groups that focus on incoming and prospective students, will also be in attendance.

The 2013 National Honor Society induction ceremony was held April 15 in Rockne Hall. Fifty-one juniors and five seniors were inducted into the society. Current members were also recognized and NHS officers Linda Nguyen, Caleb Connelly, Connor Beck and Emily Peiffer spoke on the importance of scholarship and spirituality.

The CCHS cross country team will be holding a meeting for incoming freshmen interested in joining the team. Plans for summer conditioning will be discussed.
