Students in third grade will be taking a field trip to Lost River Caverns in Hellertown May 15. This field trip is tied to the third-grade science curriculum, particularly the rocks and minerals unit.

Since the caverns remain a constant 52 degrees, a jacket will be needed along with rubber-soled shoes.

Students should bring a packed lunch in a bag that can be discarded. Parents are asked to remember not to use glass containers.

The annual fourth-grade egg drop will be held at Sheckler May 10 at 1:15 p.m., in the lower parking lot.

Students are asked to create a protective container to keep their uncooked egg from breaking. No glass should be used and the container should be no bigger than a shoe box.

The Catasauqua Fire Department will drop all containers from a height of approximately 50 feet. An update will follow with the number of eggs that survive the drop. Good luck to all participants.
