ALBURTIS COLUMN

The annual May Day Festival will be held noon to 5 p.m. in Lock Ridge Park Sunday. Crafters, artists, kids activities and delicious foods something for everyone. At 2 p.m. the Lock Ridge Theatre group will present the May Day performance music, dancing, and the queen and her court. This year May Day is part of the Alburtis Centennial, May 10, 11, and 12. The Centennial celebration begins 6:30 p.m. Friday night at the Borough Hall and includes open houses, walking tours, a fashion show, bicycle decorating, the Macungie Band, Sunday morning religious service, burial of the time capsule and much more. The Alburtis Lock Ridge Historical Society meets 7 p.m. May 9 at the Society's headquarters, corner of Church and Franklin streets. The meeting is open to all those who are interested in the history of Alburtis and the surrounding area. The Society's website is www.alhst8011.org.

The borough office will be closed May 27 in observance of Memorial Day.

The senior citizens meet noon Wednesday, May 15 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Penn Avenue and Quarry Road.

The June Senior Citizens meeting will be held at the Gun Club on Gun Club Road.

There will be no Camp Fire hoagie sales until next fall.

The Alburtis Area Community Center board members meet 7:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month in the kitchen area of the Community Center, Walnut and Second streets. Alburtis residents are invited to attend.

The swimming pool opens Memorial Day weekend. Check the website www.aacconline.org for times and for other information. The center is available to rent for wedding receptions, showers, birthday parties, etc. Call 610-966-2954 or check the website.
