LETTER TO THE EDITOR
To The Editor:
We are writing this letter to support the re-election of Republican Commissioner Roger C. Reis in the next Lower Macungie Township election May 21.
Our family first met Mr. Reis at our son Derek's Eagle Scout project, The Freedom Memorial Garden, a memorial garden built in honor of military from the Lehigh Valley area who lost their lives while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
The Freedom Memorial Garden was built on the Lower Macungie Township Community Center Campus, across from the library. We were weeding and mulching the garden when Mr. Reis parked his car and came across to the memorial and introduced himself. He mentioned how beautiful the garden was and thanked my son, and our family, for creating such an honorable garden, and then he left. When he left we all recognized that a Lower Macungie Township Commissioner took the time to stop and say, "Thanks for what you have done!"
Two years later, when our younger son, Kevin, had an idea for his Eagle project, we met up with Mr. Reis a second time at a Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting. Our son had to stand before the Board of Commissioners and present his Eagle project and ask permission to add a 20-foot solar lit flagpole to the Freedom Memorial Garden along with building a park bench along the walking path behind the library.
Mr. Reis was the first commissioner to support and approve his project, compliment, and thank us again for all our family had contributed to Lower Macungie Township.
Our family has attended many Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioner meetings and has come to know Mr. Reis to be very committed to public service, voting for what he believes is best for our township. He deserves a second term as commissioner because his heart is in the right place.
Being an Air Force veteran and a former captain of the Pa. State Police shows his true leadership abilities. He continues to be a devoted community leader in Lower Macungie Township as a commissioner.
Our family has benefited from Mr. Reis being a true listener and supporter of something as minor as an approval of an Eagle Scout project. For all the major issues of Lower Macungie Township, we trust Mr. Reis will continue to be a true leader for all the other families in our township.
Please vote to re-elect Roger C. Reis as commissioner in Lower Macungie Township on Tuesday, May 21. Let him continue to be a true leader.
Kathy, George, Derek, and Kevin Weber
