The Salisbury Township Police Department, in cooperation with the security department were dispatched to 1200 S. Cedar Crest Blvd. for a suspicious person in parking lot K 8:15 p.m. April 14.
Upon checking the lot for the reported actor, a suspicious bag was found between two vehicles inside the parking lot.
Lehigh Valley Health Network attempted to make contact with the owners of the vehicles near where the bag was found. One owner was located and denied the bag was hers. A second report of a suspicious male was confirmed in the area of this parking lot. One male was located and determined not to be involved in this incident.
Upon being unable to verify where the package came from and the suspicious actor reports, the Western Salisbury Fire Department, Allentown Bomb Squad and Lehigh Valley Health Network Emergency Mangement Department were notified and responded.
Several bomb technicians responded to the scene.
Upon complete assessment of the situation, the bag was detonated and rendered safe by members of the Allentown Bomb Squad.
Further investigation found a bag with personal belongings inside. No hazards or suspicious contents were noted.
The scene was rendered safe and all operations were normal shortly after midnight.
The Salisbury Township Police Department continues its strong working relationship with all agencies involved, especially Lehigh Valley Health Network. All incidents take high priority in both agencies' eyes to protect the health, safety and welfare of all patients, staff and visitors within the township of Salisbury and the Lehigh Valley Health Network.
