Hornet Happenings
Thursday, April 4 marks the end of the fourth marking period for East Penn students, which means school is almost over and summer is rapidly approaching.
In addition to the anticipation of summer vacation, students can also look forward to the spring musical, spring concerts, Final Fling, proms and more.
Seniors can look forward to senior ball, afterball, senior picnic, Baccalaureate, graduation and senior week trips.
On April 3, the Student Government Association will be hosting a senior spirit night at the Trexlertown Chick Fil-A 4 to 8 p.m. A total of 15 percent of the orders purchased under the organization will be refunded to SGA to help fund spring events. There will also be a raffle that night to win a catered graduation party. All EHS students are encouraged to attend to support SGA and are reminded to alert employees they intend to support Emmaus with their purchases. Both walk-ins and drive-thru orders will be accepted.
Three EHS students will be participating in the PMEA All-Eastern Division Conference Honors Ensembles in Hartford, Conn. April 4 to 7. Senior Jacqui Hamati, alto, and junior Anthony Sharp, bass, will be performing in the All-Eastern Honors Chorus.
Senior Dominic Panunto, bassoonist, was selected to perform with the All-Eastern Honors Band. The All-Eastern Honors ensembles will be performing at the Bushnell Center for Performing Arts April 7 for an audience of thousands.
On April 5, junior Robert Bishop will be honored as a finalist for the Penn State Writing contest at a luncheon, along with 75 other participants.
The spring musical, "Legally Blonde: The Musical" will be performed 7 p.m. April 10 to 13, with a matinee performance 2 p.m. April 13. Tickets are still available.
Tickets for junior prom will be sold April 2 to 9. Prom will be held at the Rodeway Inn and Conference Center Saturday, May 4. As a reminder, all debts need to be paid in order to purchase tickets.
The senior afterball party will take place May 10, following the ball. The event is completely funded by donations and run by volunteers. Parents are needed to help make decorations, as well as run the event. Donations for the afterball will be accepted in the main office; checks can be made payable to STEP and can be mailed to the main office.
All parents can volunteer, not exclusively the parents of seniors. To volunteer, contact Wendy Petrohoy, volunteer coordinator, at cardiacshark@ aol.com. Meetings are scheduled for 7 to 8 p.m. April 9, 16, 23 and 30 in Room 353. Decorations are also being made 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evenings in the art wing.
