DanceBrazil performs 8 p.m. April 3, Williams Center for the Arts, Lafayette College, 317 Hamilton St., Easton.
DanceBrazil has enthralled audiences around the world for more than 30 years with its fusion of Afro-Brazilian movements, contemporary dance and Capoeira, a dance-martial arts form that evolved in colonial Brazil as a means of fighting enslavement.
The company's return to the Williams Center features artistic director and choreographer's Jelon Vieira's newest work, "Do Sertão" ("Faith of the Sertaons"), which thrives on the movements created by the human body, smooth samba steps, and the company's signature gracefully-athletic Capoeira kicks.
Also featured is "Banguela" (2010), which honors the roots of African culture that define the Afro-Brazilian soul of music and dance.
There is a pre-performance talk about the company's work, 7 p.m. April 3, Room 108, Williams Center.
