LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Letter to the editor

To the Editor:

I believe the May Democratic Primary Election in Coplay will stand out in Lehigh County as the most exciting. We have a total of nine Coplay council candidates. Eight are on the Democratic ballot and one is on the Republican ballot. Four council seats are open.

We currently have two appointed councilmen, both of whom are running. Our mayor also was appointed. He and a challenger are on the ballot for the May Democratic primary.

Many in Coplay have expressed a desire for large change in our Coplay government. The voters will have that opportunity this May.

I am delighted because several of the current officers of the Coplay Democratic Club are candidates for elected office in Coplay. The Coplay Democratic Club (CDC) is the most active Democratic association in Lehigh County, aside from those in the city. The CDC is active supporting our community, promoting voter registration and educating residents on the important issues Coplay faces.

During this primary election season, many flyers from candidates and the CDC will be at your door. Although this may cause "flyer fatigue," please consider this the price of Democracy. Become an educated voter. Read all the flyers and make the best decision. As you read them, compare them and talk to others. Your goal may be to separate the facts from bovine excreta some candidates will surely offer.

The May primary decision is simple. If you agree with what has occurred in Coplay the last five years, support the incumbents. If you do not agree with what has occurred in Coplay in the last five years, consider a vote for change.

I know where I stand.

Bill Leiner Jr.

President
