8 DAYS A WEEK
The world according to Mo: "Parallel Lives," written by Mo Gaffney and Kathy Najimy, opens Allentown Public Theatre's 2013 season, 8 p.m. March 22, 23, 28 - 30, April 4 - 6 and 2 p.m. April 7, Antonio Salemme Foundation, Suite 203, 542 W. Hamilton St., Allentown. Variety has praised the two-person show as "a humorous romp with a feminist sensibility ... a smart, provocative show." Joshua Neth directs Jennifer Starr Foley, above left, and Samantha Beedle, above right, who play Mo and Kathy, two actresses who, in turn, portray some 30 characters, including teenagers on a date, sisters at their grandmother's funeral, a man and a woman in a country-western bar, and more. The comedy, presented as part of Women's History Month, examines the ongoing quest to find parity and love in a world of capricious gods, or in this case, goddesses. Whine, women and songs: "Mid-Life Vices!" features Sally Fingerett, Debi Smith, Deirdre Flint and Marcy Marxer, above, 8 p.m. March 22, State Theatre Center for the Arts, 453 Northampton St., Easton. From those gal-pals who brought us "Hormonal Imbalance" and "Diva Nation" comes a new celebration of whine, women and song. The group known as the Four Bitchin' Babes presents whimsical, hip and sophisticated girl-group harmonies, (never blue) standup-humor while showcasing original songs and stories inspired by their estrogen-infused, certifiably wacky, yet loving view finder. "Mid-Life Vices!" is described as a "guilt-free musical revue." With acoustic and electric guitars, mandolins, piano, bass, drums (jazzy and Irish Bodhran), the Babes take a stab at exhausted perfectionists, organized scatterbrains, boys and their wheels, and a universal passion for low lights, facebook, and cheese Tickets: statetheatre.org, 610-252-3132
