EMMAUS

In an online auction that started Feb. 28 and ends March 14, the Borough of Emmaus is selling a hydraulic snowblower, an asphalt paver and an oil fired boiler for additional non-tax revenue. By using an established, but innovative, online government auctions site specifically designed for municipalities, Emmaus is conducting a 2-week auction of this heavy equipment. It is looking to garnish thousands of dollars to be put back into its budget.

The Borough of Emmaus is using online auction site, Municibid.com to sell the items. Municibid was established in 2006 and has grown steadily since, with over 800 government agencies auctioning surplus through the efficient online system. Emmaus is auctioning surplus items online because the website has an established nationwide reach growing every day. Auctions on Municibid result in competitive bidding and fair prices for government surplus items.

Emmaus Borough Manager Shane Pepe said, "We've used Municibid several times in the past to sell surplus vehicles and heavy equipment with nice success. We're hoping to get good results this time around as well. Using an online auction site like Municibid makes the process much more efficient for us."

Municibid Founder and CEO Greg Berry said, "Taxpayer demand and tightened budgets require government agencies to look for new ways of increasing non-tax revenue. Municibid is an easy way to achieve this and at no cost to the agency." Berry added, "Auction items will reach a much broader, national audience of competing bidders, leading to better net results."

The auction includes an Erskine Model 2418 Hydraulic Snow Blower, a GEHL Model 1649 Asphalt Paver and an Oil Fired Boiler. All items are said to be in like new or very good condition.
