The Relay for Life Team at Cedar Lutheran Church was awarded the "Golden Sneaker" award at the 9 a.m. service Feb. 17.

"Carolyn Self of Church World Service spoke for a few minutes about CWS and the relationship to the CROP Hunger Walk. Debra Olphin, a representative for the Greater Allentown CROP Walk Committee, presented The Golden Sneaker Award to recruiter Cindy Borger and the walkers from Cedar Lutheran Church, said Cindy Borger," chairperson of the Cedar Relay for Life committee.

Borger said last year the Greater Allentown CROP Walk planning committee designed this award to surprise the church/organization, who had the highest percentage increase in donations collected from the previous year walked and Cedar Church had a 24 percent increase.
