Lynn Township man charged with endangering his children
A 27-year-old Lynn Township man who allegedly had his children in his truck when he rammed his wife's vehicle was arrested Feb. 27, according to Trooper Ronald Mercatili of Troop M Fogelsville.
According to an affidavit of probable cause obtained from District Judge David Harding, Coopersburg, Brandi Renee Billig walked into the barracks to report she had been involved that day in a domestic dispute with her husband, George Billig, at 7737 Brobst Hill Road and 7270 Hoffadeckal Court, Lynn Township.
Mercatili states he interviewed Brandi Billig, who said she dropped off her friend, Steve Kite, at his residence on Brobst Hill Road, when her husband pulled behind her in his red Ford F250 pickup truck and intentional struck her 2003 Jeep and then proceeded to push the Jeep up Brobst Hill Road and off the side of the road.
Mercatili says Brandi Billig said she then drove to her residence on Hoffadeckal Court to pick up her children, who were in her husband's pickup truck at the time she was hit.
According to the affidavit, when she arrived at her residence her Jeep was hit again by her husband's pickup truck from behind causing damage to the bumper.
Brandi Billig said her husband got out of the driver's seat, punched her driver's side window and screamed at her, Mercatili states in the affidavit.
Brandi Billig said she was in fear for her safety and for her children's safety.
According to the affidavit, Mercatili viewed recent damage to the rear bumper of Brandi Billig's Jeep in the parking lot at the barracks.
The next day Mercatili interviewed Kite, who said he was dropped off by Brandi Billig, just past his driveway.
He said as he closed the door to Brandi Billig's Jeep, a red pickup truck pulled up behind her vehicle.
As he turned to walk away, he heard the truck's engine.
He spun around and saw the truck driven by George Billig make contact with the Jeep and push it up the road.
Kite then got in his truck and followed the two vehicles to the Hoffadeckal Court address.
He states when he arrived at the address, he saw the red pickup truck parked against the Jeep, and George Billig outside the driver's side door . The Billig children were yelling and screaming.
Mercatili states he responded to the Hoffadeckal Court address and saw the pickup parked in the driveway.
Mercatili states a NCIC check revealed the registration expired in August 2007 and the inspection had expired in November 2012.
According to the affidavit, George Billig was taken into custody.
According to Lehigh County court records, George Billig was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of children, one count of recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.
He was also charged with harassment, careless and reckless driving, and operating a vehicle without inspection.
Billig was arraigned before Harding Feb. 28 and sent to Lehigh County Prison under $15,000 monetary bond.
He was released from prison March 3 after posting bail, court records state.
