STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: I enjoy AP physics because I like working through the problems and figuring things out.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: I have been on the Principal's Honor Roll every year and was chosen as the Rensselaer Medalist for my grade last year for my achievements in math and science. I am also a member of National Honor Society.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: I am the secretary of the hiking club, which I joined freshman year. I am also a member of Model UN, Math League, FBLA and I ran cross-country in the fall.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: I will go to college to study electrical or mechanical engineering, then either get a MBA or go to law school.

Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A: My biggest challenge was in my freshmen year when I was faced with much more schoolwork than I was ready for or expecting. I had to work very hard to learn to manage my time so I could complete all of my assignments.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?

A: I want to be remembered as someone who contributed to the community through volunteer work, like the summers I spent at Camelot for Children.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: My parents Kevin and Shelly, and my younger sister Laura.

Q: Do you have someone you look up to?

A: In middle school I had Mr. Smith as a cross-country coach. Running didn't come easily to me but he encouraged me and pushed me to do my best. He helped me to persevere and gain confidence as a runner. Mr. Smith is someone I look up to and running is something I continue to enjoy.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: Don't spend too much time on websites like Twitter and Facebook. After deleting my accounts, I learned time can be spent on better things.
