ANCIENT OAK COLUMN Ancient Oak Womens Organization to have guest speaker March 6

Signs of spring are starting to appear. Daylight saving time begins in a few weeks. Easter cards and decorations are available in many stores.

For me one of the first signs of the season's change is the orchid plant on my windowsill. For the past five years, three miniature purple flowers bloom in late February. They are with me until late August when, one by one, the petals fold up and drop off. It's time to rest, to prepare for next year's blooms.

The Ancient Oak Womens Organization meets 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6 at St. Paul's UCC, Trexlertown Road, Trexlertown. State Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, R-134th, is the guest speaker. The Easter egg hunt will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at Church Lane Park. Rain date is 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24.
