Looking over thousands of pennies – along with a sprinkling of nickels, dimes and quarters and some paper money – at Col. John Siegfried Elementary School, Northampton, are students, from left, Emma Statler, Anastasia Regel, Magnus Hanson, Jadyn Fehnel, Caroline Bischof, Gianna Winkelbauer, Kavina Zambrano and Emma Gundrum. The school held its annual student council "Pennies for Patients" campaign. Student council advisor and teacher Gary Pierzga said kindergarten through sixth grade, each with a pail, took part in the fund drive to benefit the Lehigh Valley Leukemia & Lymphomia Society. The pails, each weighing more than 100 pounds, were transported to KNBT Bank in the borough.
