STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Q: What grade are you in?
A: I am currently a senior at Emmaus High School.
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: I think my favorite subject has to be AP physics, which is a calculus based physics class. I enjoy the ability to work through the difficult problems presented in the course. I also enjoy the class environment due to the fact that everyone taking the course also enjoys the subject material.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: I have received first place in the Ukrainian Orthodox League's annual essay contest, a contest presented to me through my church. I am also a member of National Honor Society and a National Merit Commended Scholar.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: This year I was the section leader for the high school's drum line in marching band. I am also in the high school's male acapella group Fermata Nowhere. Outside of school, I am also a member of the Kazka Ukrainian Folk Ensemble which provides a way for me to keep in touch with my heritage.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: My next goal would be to attend college to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
Q: What would you say has been your greatest challenge so far?
A: I think my greatest challenge would have to be time management. It has been difficult to manage extracurricular commitments with homework, while still finding time to relax.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I'd like to be remembered as a fun kid that could still be serious when it was needed.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My parents, Joseph and Pamela, my sister Stephanie and our horse, Artie.
Q: Do you have someone you look up to?
A: I would have to say my uncle Rich. He was a great guy always able to teach me something new whenever I saw him. He taught me to love being outdoors with nature, something I find relaxing and will always love throughout my life.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: Be the person you want to be. Don't hurt yourself by being what someone says you should be, only you know what is really best for you.
