The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is now accepting applications for 2013 summer employment for students and government services interns, State Rep. Justin Simmons, R-131st, said Jan. 18.

To qualify, candidates must be 18 years of age and enrolled in college for the fall 2013 semester. Applicants must also have a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

The summer employment program runs May through August to supplement the permanent workforce. Government services interns will not be hired in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery or Philadelphia counties.

The deadline to apply is the close of business Feb. 22.
