EMMAUS COLUMN Have a blast at Emmaus' SnowBlast festival
Emmaus' annual SnowBlast Festival sponsored by the Emmaus Arts Commission will be held Feb. 1 and 2. The festival schedule is packed with free, community-wide art-related events.
The schedule includes many favorites such as the Friday night kick-off 5 p.m. on the Emmaus Triangle with sculpted ice demonstrations and an appearance by the SnowBlast Ice Princess. Activities continue until 9 p.m. The popular Ice Bar hosted by the Emmaus Main Street Partners will be held 5 to 9 p.m. Program events continue 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Clock building, 328 Main St., and 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St.

All the regularly scheduled children's programs continue at the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St: Stars and Rainbows story time 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. There will be no story time Feb. 13; Suns at 10:30 a.m. and Twilight Readers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Programs will not be held Feb. 14; Library Lunch for grades six, seven and eight, noon Feb. 23. Adult book discussion will be held 7 p.m. Feb. 12 and another LEGO party, for all ages, will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 23. Registration is required for some programs. The Emmaus Winter Farmers' Market will take place 10 a.m. to noon every other Sunday in 2013 until the regular market starts up again in May. The first winter market was held Jan. 13; the next winter markets are Jan. 27, Feb. 10 and Feb. 24. The Emmaus Historical Society museum, 563 Chestnut St. is open noon to 4 p.m. every Saturday. During SnowBlast Winter Festival the museum will be open 5 to 9 p.m. Feb. 1 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 2. The museum will be decorated with vintage winter memorabilia with photos of local blizzards and a presentation of a story about the Snowflake Man. Emmaus Historical Society's meeting is 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at St. John's Lutheran Church parish hall. The program will take a trip back in time and recall events of the borough's Diamond Jubilee which occurred July 29 through August 5, 1934.

All senior citizens over the age of 55 are invited to the Emmaus Senior Citizen meetings at St. Matthew's E.C. Church, Ridge and Fifth streets. Plaudits to the Emmaus Fire Department for hosting the Jan. 5 drive to provide supplies for the two families who lost all their household possessions in a New Year's Eve fire.

Mark your calendars for several upcoming March events: The Emmaus Lions Club is holding its fifth annual "Nite at the Races" at Upper Milford West District Fire Co., Routes 29 and 100 in Old Zionsville, March 9. Doors open 5 p.m.; first race is 6:30 p.m. Each ticket includes fun, food, drinks and door prizes (BYOB). Proceeds are used to fund the club's charity projects.
