ALBURTIS COLUMN Trip to Valley Forge Casino scheduled for Alburtis seniors

All the Christmas and holiday decorations have been put away and folks are settling down after the hustle of the previous weeks. New Year's resolutions, made with good intentions, are already forgotten.

Ours was a quiet holiday; almost everyone had been visited by "the bug" in one way or another.

For my daughter Robin in Arizona, her Jan. 1 celebration was a happy one. She went with a group of volunteers to Pasadena, Calif. to decorate one of the floats for the Tournament of Roses parade. It was a wonderful experience one she hopes to repeat next year.

Now it is time to settle down and get busy with the affairs of the day.

The Alburtis Camp Fire Girls will have a hoagie sale Jan. 12. Call in your orders to Hope DeIaco at 610-966-4663.

The Alburtis Lockridge Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. Jan. 10 at their headquarters on Church and Franklin streets. The public is invited to attend. The election of new officers has been postponed until spring.

The Alburtis Senior Citizens meet noon Jan. 16 at the Church of the Good Shepherd at Penn Avenue and Quarry Road. Doris is planning a trip for Alburtis seniors only to Valley Forge Casino Jan. 23. Call 610-966-3653 for reservations.

Alburtis residents are invited to attend the Alburtis Area Community Center board meeting 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15 at the community center, Second and Walnut streets. For more information about coming events and activities, check www.aacconline.org. The center is available for birthday parties, showers, wedding receptions, etc; for information, call 610-966-2954.

Doors open 5 p.m. for Friday night bingo games at the community center. Games begin 7 p.m. and the kitchen is open for refreshments.

Dates to remember include Inauguration Day Jan. 20 and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Jan. 21.

News for the Feb. 13 column must be received by Feb. 6.
