Car strikes bridge
in Lynn Township
James Bachman, 41, of New Tripoli, was driving a 1998 Audi at 6:15 a.m. Dec. 16, 2012, when the car struck a bridge at the intersection of Springhouse and Mosserville roads, Lynn Township, State Police Troop M Fogelsville say.
Trooper Curt R. Schillinger responded to a report of a vehicle in the roadway with a person inside slumped over the steering wheel.
Police say after Bachman was awakened, he allegedly exhibited signs of impairment and was allegedly driving under the influence.
Police say charges for driving under the influence of alcohol and traffic violations pending toxicology results will be filed before District Judge Rod Beck, Slatington.
Man receives
alarming calls
State Police Troop M Fogelsville say a 20-year-old man from the 8700 block of Muse Road, New Tripoli, reported receiving alarming telephone calls at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 19, 2012, from a 48-year-old man from the 7200 block of Lincoln Court, New Tripoli.
Copper piping stolen from house
State Police Troop M Fogelsville report copper piping was stolen from the basement of a house belonging to Federal Home Loan Mortgage Company in the 6000 block of Bittners Corner Road, Lowhill Township, sometime between Dec. 20 and Dec. 27, 2012.
Driver receives
counterfeit money
Robert Chartre, 78, of Santastash, Quebec, Canada, tried to pay for gas at the Bandit Truck Stop, Route 863, Weisenberg Township, but soon learned the money he was using was counterfeit.
According to State Police Troop M Fogels-ville, Chartre obtained the six $100 counterfeit bills from his hometown bank in Canada for his trip to Florida.
Handgun stolen
from Lynn home
State Police Troop M Fogelsville say a Lady Smith and Wesson revolver was among several items stolen sometime between 6 p.m. Dec. 28, 2012, and 5:50 a.m. the next morning from a home in the 8200 block of Allemaengel Road, Lynn Township.
Jeep crashes
into garage
Police allege Vincent M. Garofalo, 18, of Feasterville, Trevose, left the scene of an accident at 2:19 a.m. Dec. 26, 2012, after crashing his 1999 Jeep Cherokee into a garage at 8321 Kings Highway, Lynn Township.
State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Garofalo was westbound, negotiating a left curve on Route 143, when he apparently lost control of the Jeep, which drove off the road and into the garage.
Police allege Garofalo left the scene but was later identified. The Jeep was removed by Soley's Townsing.
Garolfalo was cited for having an accident involving damage to an unattended vehicle or property, failure to provide information, careless driving, abandonment of vehicle, driving at an unsafe speed.
Charges were file before District Judge Rod Beck, Slatington.
