Neighbors, it is the time of year when we all get together with family and friends. Can you imagine what it would be like if you had none and no one wanted you? It is not a happy thought at all.

Many companion animals are in such a situation.

Forgotten Felines and Fidos, a nonprofit, no-kill shelter near New Tripoli, sure could use your help toward fixing that problem.

It is particularly difficult to run a shelter like this because, if the animals are not adopted, they are kept there for their lifetimes.

One of the best ways to help is to become a member/sponsor. The small annual fee includes quarterly newsletters, as well as periodic updates.

Forgotten Felines, which also provides spay/neutering services for very reasonable fees, can always use donations such as bleach, liquid laundry detergent, trash bags (tall kitchen and larger), cotton swabs, Purina Cat Chow (blue bag), Purina Kitten Chow, Friskies canned food, hand sanitizer, glass cleaner, mop heads, new cat toys and unwanted towels.

Wow, sure is a long list, isn't it?

But it gives you some idea of the wide scope of the group's responsibilities.

John Prange, the group's volunteer veterinarian, provides the spay/neutering services. He is assisted by an overworked volunteer staff that can use more help with maintaining the shelter.

Dr. Prange has more than 40 years experience and he also makes house calls for those needing any other veterinary service.
