A very merry day after Christmas to you. I hope you, your family and friends, enjoyed a memorable day.

It seems we spend so much time preparing for this very special day and its over too quickly. Now we are preparing for a new year 2013.

Writing those numbers makes me feel like we should be riding around in space ships visiting our neighbors on other planets.

The Ancient Oak Womens Organization will meet 7:30 p.m Jan. 2, 2013 at St. Paul's Church, Trexlertown Road, Trexlertown. Bunko games will be played after the business meeting. Ladies in Ancient Oak are invited to attend.

Winners of the Ancient Oak Christmas house decorating contest will be announced next month.

Members of the Lower Macungie Township Senior Citizen's Club meet noon, Jan. 15, 2013. After the business meeting, there will be a guest speaker. The meeting is held at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center, 3400 Brookside Road, Macungie. Call 610-966-6924 for additional information.

Friday night bingo is held at the Alburtis Community Center, Walnut and School streets, Alburtis. Doors open 5:30 p.m.; games start 7 p.m. The kitchen is open for refreshments.

Think you are ready for the rocking chair? Hilda Johnstone represented Great Britian in the 1971 Olympics Equestrian Dressage Competition at age 70. Harriet Doer won the National Book Award for her first book at 73. At 76, Grandma Moses started to paint. At age 90, Will Durant and his wife completed "The Story of Civilization" and Leopold Stokoski recorded 20 albums after the age of 90.

Do you have a long resolution list this year? I gave up on that long ago. No matter how hard I tried, my good intentions disappeared. Now I just have one to try to be a better person than I was last year.
