School board treated to choral performance

The Whitehall-Coplay School Board celebrated the holiday season early with a chorale performance at last week's school board meeting.

Chorale Director D. Andrew Borghesani introduced the Chorale, an audition group that travels and performs across the state and country.

The group performed three songs that were featured in the winter concert with the full concert choir last Tuesday.

The group opened with "I'll Be Home for Christmas," featuring a solo by senior L.J. Smith. The group also sang "The First Noel" and a song performed in Latin called "Gaudette."

District Superintendent John W. Corby explained that this performance has become a tradition within the last four to five years.

"You sound great," he told the Chorale.

In other business, Timothy Mulligan, executive director of Communities in Schools, presented the district with a $1,000 donation.

The donation is given to the school to use for antidrug and antialcohol messages for children.

"We are pleased to present this check to the school and hope this produces great results," said Mulligan.

"This is a mission in our district, thanks for helping us," responded Corby.

During the principals reports, the on-air schedule for the holiday show was released. The show airs on RCN, Monday, Dec. 24 at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., and Tuesday, Dec. 25, at 7 p.m. The shows can be seen anytime on video on demand.
