Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, will be having the following events in January.
Nilsa Lasso-von Lang and Jiwanda Gale-Rogers will discuss the release of their latest book, "Flavors of Panama" 7-8 p.m. on Jan. 16.
"Flavors of Panama" presents a chronological overview of Panamanian cuisine.
The book brings together delicious and popular native foods and variations of many cultures, including European and American cuisine, Panamanian-Asian dishes, Afro-Caribbean/Afro-Hispanic foods, Mexican, South and Central American foods, and Indian and Middle Eastern cuisines.
At 7 p.m. on Jan. 23, author Sharlee DiMenichi will give a short overview of the history of the Peace Corps and the opportunities available to those who join.
She will then read from "The Complete Guide to Joining the Peace Corps."
The book contains three case studies based on interviews with returned Peace Corps volunteers.
DiMenichi will invite the audience to write questions for additional returned Peace Corps volunteers who will join the event by Skype.
The library will host guest speakers Alonzo Gross and Wendy Smale 7-8 p.m. Jan. 30.
They will discuss their latest book of poetry entitled, "Inspiration, Harmony and the World Within."
The book consists of original art drawings by Smale and original poetry provided by Gross.
