LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Cougar Comment

Lehigh Valley Christian High School has had some exciting events over the course of the past month.

Last week the drama team staged its winter production of "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens. It was performed at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a success!

On Saturday, Dec. 15, the LVCHS Choir and Vocal Ensemble will present its Christmas concert. The annual event will take place in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. The concert will start at 7 p.m. and admission is free, so we would love to see you there.

A voluntary offering will be taken to support the school's music department.

Yesterday we had our annual "Deck the Halls" event, a class competition to decorate the school for the Christmas season. Each class decorated one section of the building in keeping with the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ.

Our newly formed academic quizzing team just had their first competitive event earlier this month, an online competition during the school day.

It gave them a good introduction to academic quizzing. We look forward to their participating in more events in the future.

The boys and girls basketball season has officially started. After a few weeks of hard practices they had their first game on Saturday against Quakertown Christian School.

We're looking forward to a great season after last year's girls' team won the ACCAC championship.

During the last week of classes before Christmas we will have our annual LVCHS Spirit Week.

Each day students dress up according to a different theme (pajamas, sports, superheroes, nerds) and the last day is Homecoming Day, which is our "red out" day.

That evening we have home basketball games against our cross-town rival, Salem Christian School.

We will also have a special Alumni Chapel on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Several of our alumni will be sharing stories of how God has been working in their lives since graduation.

We recently hosted eighth-grade students and their parents from three of our sending schools, Bethlehem Christian, Covenant Christian and Lehigh Christian Academy.

We gave them some exposure to life in high school and answered their questions about the transition they will soon be facing.

We are open to having them (and other prospective students) come and shadow one of our students for a day of classes.

Finally, LVCHS is reaching out in the community. Some of our students painted the windows of the Catasauqua Borough offices, and also helped out at the Catasauqua annual Christmas tree lighting by serving food, face painting, games and more.

Merry Christmas!
