STUDENT OF THE WEEK Rose Zhang
Q. What grade are you in?
A. I am a senior at Emmaus High School.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject would have to be science, especially biology and chemistry. I've always loved learning about how everything around us is formed and how and why everything works together. I think science experiments are really interesting and fun to do and they encourage me to look for explanations to certain questions that ultimately relate to what is currently being researched today.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I was scholar athlete for the varsity girls' tennis team, I've ranked in school, regionals and states for National History Day, I've ranked in district orchestra, I've been on honor roll and I'm also a member of National Honor Society and National French Honor Society.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A. I'm a member of Habitat for Humanity and Science Olympiad, a violinist in the school and chamber orchestras and I've also been a part of the girls tennis team for four years now.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. My goal is to attend college and eventually go into either medicine or pharmacy.
Q. What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A. I think my biggest challenge has been getting over my fear of public speaking. I've always been nervous presenting anything in front of people, but I've learned how to prepare for presentations and I like to think I've gotten a lot better at it.
Q, What do you want to be remembered for?
A. I want to be remembered as a hard working student who laughed a lot.
Q. Who is in your family?
A. My family is made up of me, my parents, Jiaming and Liqin and my 13-year-old sister Tina.
Q. Do you have someone you look up to?
A. I really look up to my dad. He puts his best effort in everything, whether it be his work or helping my sister and me with homework. He's gotten our family so far and I know he'll always be there supporting me in whatever I do.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. My advice is to work hard in school, but at the same time enjoy life as it comes. You never know where an opportunity might take you.
