November is always an exciting month at Lehigh Valley Christian High School. Not only are the seasons shifting from fall to winter, but the sports seasons are changing as well.
Fall sports are coming to an end and winter sports are beginning to pick up.
To close off the fall sports season, we celebrated with a sports banquet Nov. 15. Family and friends gathered to support the teams' accomplishments of the 2012 season.
The teams attending were the cross country, girls volleyball, girls soccer and boys soccer teams. The night's ceremony was kicked off with the presentation of the cross country team. This was especially exciting because this was the first year Lehigh Valley Christian High School has had a cross-country team.
After the cross country team, the boys soccer team was presented. Athletic director and soccer coach Alex Sackey said a few words about his team. He shared stories with the audience about players' strong points and about the team's overall dedication.
A highlight of the night was when he shared how proud he was of his team for advancing to the district level.
The team was presented with medals. Bobby VanDuzer was awarded with a trophy for MVP.
After the boys' soccer team, the girls volleyball team was presented. Head Coach Amanda Brennan gave an enthusiastic speech about the season. She called her team up and presented each individual player with a personalized certificate, stating some of their stats and highlighting their skills.
Then Assistant Coach Kendra Leininger shared some exciting news that she would be taking over the head coaching position.
Alli Aversa was then presented with the MVP trophy.
The girls soccer team was then called up. Coach Sackey returned to the microphone and said a few words about his team. He gave a heartfelt speech about the perseverance his team showed both on and off the field.
He spoke highly of his girls and how, despite some issues in their personal lives, they were able to show strength throughout the season. Paula Herbert was presented with the trophy for MVP. The night closed with prayer, pictures, food and socializing.
Congratulations to all of the athletes on their accomplishments this year.
