PUTZ

Several area Moravian churches will display putzes to the general public again this year.

The term putz is from the German word putzen, which has various meanings including to decorate, to place or to make beautiful. At one time, putzing was a Bethlehem holiday tradition during which people visited private homes to see their versions of the Nativity story.

Central Moravian Church's 75th annual putz will be held in the Christian Education Building, 73 W. Church St.

Edgeboro Moravian's will be held at the church, 645 Hamilton Ave., and East Hills Moravian Church's will be held at 830 Butztown Road.
