Gov. Tom Corbett has extended the deadline to apply for Pennsylvania's Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program for older adults and residents with disabilities until Dec. 31.

More than 600,000 older Pennsylvanians and residents with disabilities are expected to benefit from the program."

The program helps Pennsylvanians ages 65 and above, widows and widowers ages 50 and above and people with disabilities ages 18 and above.

The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters.

Half of Social Security income is excluded. Rebate distribution began July 1.

Applicants may acquire property tax and rent rebate claim forms and related information at revenue.state.pa.us or by calling 1-888-222-9190.

Forms also can be found at department of revenue district offices, local agencies on aging, senior centers or state legislators' offices.
