LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Driver's Ed

Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 is offering driver's education theory classes and behind-the-wheel training for qualified high school students.

The goal of the student driver education program is to teach young people to be safe and responsible drivers. To achieve this goal, Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit offers online driving theory instruction and behind-the-wheel instruction as part of its driver education services.

For those students who complete both, the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit offers the opportunity to complete the Penn sylvania DMV road test during the last behind-the-wheel lesson.

Students may be eligible for a 10- to 20-percent reduction in insurance premium costs upon completion of an approved driver education program.

A senior license is obtainable at age 17 – after the student has completed both the classroom and the behind-the-wheel instruction and the student has a junior license at least one year without a violation.

Online classroom theory and behind-the-wheel training courses run year round. For more information, visit www.cliu.org or contact Sandy Bowen at 610-769-4111 or 800-223-4821, ext. 1299.
