MACUNGIE COLUMN Beer Can Show rescheduled to Nov. 10

The Beer Can Show has been rescheduled due to weather conditions. It is now scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. Nov. 9 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at Macungie Memorial Park.

Concordia Lutheran Church on Brookside Road will be hosting a holiday bazaar 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 in the church fellowship hall. There will be an assortment of crafters and vendors including a gold buyer.

The Macungie Pool and Friends of Macungie Institute will sponsor a Holiday Tea noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Macungie Memorial Park Main Building. For information, call 610-966-7830.

Tennis lessons will be offered at the Macungie Memorial Park gym 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays. The program is designed for children ages six through 12 and focuses on tennis fundamentals with games and fun. For more information, contact Kisthardt at 610-395-4923 or at bkisthardt@msn.com.

The St. Petersburg, Russia Men's Ensemble will perform 4 p.m. Nov. 11 at Grace Lutheran Church. They will sing sacred and secular music in Russian. There will be a free will offering and light dinner following the performance.

There will be Macungie Pool family bingo 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at Macungie Memorial Park.

Friends of the Macungie Institute will hold their annual meeting and reception 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Macungie Institute. There will be an election of board members, light refreshments and door prizes.

There will be a Community Thanksgiving Eve Service 7 p.m. Nov. 21 at Macungie Church of the Nazarene.

Curbside leaf collection will take place in November and December. Leaves should be at the curb by 7 a.m. Monday. Leaves and other yard waste can also be dropped off at the Emmaus Yard Waste Site or at the Macungie Borough garage on Spruce Street. Call Borough Hall at 610-966-2503 for more information.

The 84th Annual Sheeprock Trek and Thanksgiving Sunrise Service will leave promptly 5:45 a.m. Nov. 22 (yes, Thanksgiving morning) from the Macungie Fire Company. Boy Scout Troop 71 will light the way up Macungie's mountain where there will be a brief Thanksgiving service. Girl Scout Troop 413 will serve hot chocolate and donuts at the end of the hike. Hikers should be prepared with flashlights, gloves and hiking boots.

In the case of inclement weather, the service will be held in the garage of the Macungie Fire Department, starting 5:45 a.m.

A Holiday Lighting Ceremony will be held 6:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Flower Park on Main Street next to the railroad tracks. There will be holiday music and light refreshments.

The deadline for entries for the 10th annual Gingerbread Creation Competition and Display is Nov. 30. Gingerbread houses will be on display at Kalmbach during Macungie Holiday Dec. 8. For more information, call 610-965-1140 or go to www.kalmbachpark.com.
