The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce's Women's Business Council (WBC) presented the Athena and Athena Young Professional Awards during its annual ATHENA Awards Luncheon Oct. 23 at Saucon Valley Country Club, Bethlehem.
The 2012 Athena Award was presented to Stephanie Hnatiw of Macungie. Hnatiw is Executive Director of the YWCA of Bethlehem.
The 2012 ATHENA Young Professional Award was presented to Michelle Chrin of Hellertown. Chrin is a Marketing Associate for Caruso Benefits Group, Inc.
In the 1970's, Hnatiw joined the National Organization for Women and was one of the first women to hold a professional position within Finance America Corp.
She worked with other executive women to create the Executive Women's Task Force, which she chaired from 1982 - '83, and which evolved into the WBC, noting its 31st anniversary.
Chrin is responsible for the coordination of branding, marketing and public relations, as well as assisting clients with employee benefits communication. She oversees Caruso's electronic marketing efforts, including supervision of website design and maintenance. She also oversees charitable sponsorships and donations, and the coordination of corporate events.
Chrin is a Muhlenberg College graduate with a dual major in Political Science and International Studies. She designed an Independent Study focused on "The Status of Women" in the Lehigh Valley to be published in early 2013.
Chrin is an executive board member of the YWCA of Bethlehem where she sits on many committees. She is also active with the Chamber as part of the WBC's Buy Lehigh Valley Expo Committee and WBC Women's Summit Committee.
