The Whitehall-Coplay School District is looking for nominations for its graduates of distinction program.
Board member Joyce Wheeler and Director of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Barbara Chomik discussed the Zephyr Graduate of Distinction nominations at the Oct. 8 school board meeting.
The program allows the school district to recognize the accomplishments of graduates in the areas of academic achievements, music, the arts, civic service, military service, community service or other significant personal achievements.
Nomination forms are available at the Whitehall Township Public Library, Coplay Public Library, district website or by contacting Chomik. The deadline is Jan. 6.
"We are seeking to honor our graduates," said Wheeler.
Chomik also said the district is seeking two individuals to serve on the selection committee for the program.

In other business, the board approved the refinancing of Bond Issue Series 2007.
Treasurer Arthur Taschler Jr. asked Business Manager Robert Strauss to explain the benefits of approving the refinancing.
"This bond issue, taken out in 2007 in response to construction, allows us to refinance in five years, which ends in November," said Strauss. "We should refinance in early 2013 due to market issues. It will allow us to have substantial savings around $5,000 to $6,000 and will benefit tax payers."
