STUDENT OF THE WEEK Terence Cawley
Q: What grade are you in?
A: I am a senior at Emmaus High School.
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: My favorite subject is biology, because I find the study of life, in all of its beautiful complexity, utterly fascinating.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: I was recently named a National Merit Semifinalist. I am a member of National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society. I have also been on the Principal's Honor Roll for the last three years.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: I am captain of the boys cross country team, the managing editor of sports for my school newspaper, The Stinger, a violin player in the orchestra and a member of Key Club.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: My next goal after high school is to attend college and major in biology.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: My biggest challenge so far has simply been balancing my schoolwork with all of my extracurricular activities, but I have been able to overcome that challenge so far with effective time management.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I want to be remembered as a positive influence in the lives of the people I have known, and as someone who always strived to make a difference in the world.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My immediate family consists of my father, Brian, my mother, Lisa, my sister, Rosalie and my dog, Charlie.
Q: Do you have someone you look up to?
A: I look up to my parents because they are living full and meaningful lives, and without their outstanding parenting, I would not be a quarter of the person that I am today.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: Right now, it might not seem like all of the hard work and sacrifice required to succeed in school is worth it in the long run. You just have to have faith that the results of your dedication will be spectacular enough to have made it all worthwhile.
