HORNET HAPPENINGS Homecoming events scheduled this week
This week marks the beginning of events leading up to the highly anticipated homecoming game and dance at Emmaus High School.
Students will enjoy a week filled with school spirit activities, with each day having a different theme.
Monday's theme was neon/pink and Tuesday's theme was favorite sports team day. Also on Tuesday, the annual SGA sponsored powder puff tournament took place in the EHS stadium.
Wednesday's theme is Western Day, a day in which students sport everything from flannel shirts and cowboy boots to Native American fringe and moccasins. Thursday's theme is Superhero day. Thursday is also the homecoming pep rally, which will be held in the East Penn School District stadium/practice football fields 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Students are encouraged to attend the pep rally in preparation for the homecoming game against Whitehall. The pep rally will feature a performance by the EHS dance team. Naturally, Friday's theme is school spirit and the homecoming game will be held 7 p.m. in the EPSD stadium.
The EHS animal rights club will meet Oct 18 in room 336 and new members are invited to attend.
On Saturday, Oct. 20, PSAT testing will take place 8 to 11 a.m. Students should arrive well fed and rested and equipped with number two pencils and calculators.
The annual homecoming dance themed "Neon Rainforest" will start 7 p.m. Oct. 20 in the EHS cafeteria and will run until 10 p.m.
The Macungie Youth Association will be holding a meeting regarding the beginning of the 2012 Scrubs League 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 in room 336. The meeting is only mandatory for potential team captains and rules and sign-up information will be provided at the meeting.
Sophomores interested in applying for the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar should pick up an application in the counseling office and have it returned no later than Oct 26. If chosen, the student will join other high school students for a weekend of leadership activities.
On Oct. 27, the Drama Department will be hosting a Comedy Improv Night/Halloween party in the Black Box theater 7 to 8 p.m.
Seniors who wish to have their photo in this year's yearbook are reminded to be photographed by Harwick Photography or Wesley Works by Nov. 4. Photos from other photographers will not be accepted for publication.
