Macungie column Farmers market open through October

The Macungie Farmers Market will be open 4 to 7 p.m. every Thursday through October. The market features local family farmers providing home- grown food: fruits, vegetables, meat products, eggs, baked goods, plants and more. There will be pumpkin decorating Oct. 11 and trick or treat at the market Oct. 25. There will be a cooking demonstation Oct. 18. Parking is available along North Walnut Street and at the park.

Various classes offered at the Macungie Institute include Valley Music Together, Angie's Way Wellness Workshop, Sahaja Yoga Meditation and Community Music School piano instruction. For more information about programs offered at the Macungie Institute, call 610-966-7830.

The Lower Lehigh Lions Club will sponsor the annual Macungie Halloween Parade 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at Main and Buttonwood streets. The rain date is Nov. 3.

Entrants and spectators are reminded no political signs are permitted in the parade; skateboards, mini bikes, bicycles and ATVs are only permitted as part of a float. There should be no open fires, alcoholic beverages, corn throwing or silly string.
