Think First assembly is scheduled for Friday
On Sept. 28, Sheckler Elementary School will hold a Think First Anti-Bullying kickoff assembly for students.
Think First is an ongoing program for Sheckler students which reinforces the importance of maintaining a positive behavior at all times, encouraging students to "think first" and refrain from bullying others.
The program uses a running card system. Students are encouraged to stay on a green card with good behavior, which will help them earn the privilege of participating in a monthly reward offered at the school.
When a student does not follow the required Think First rules, the student's card is changed from green to a light blue. If the student's poor behavior continues, the color of the card will change to yellow then to red, at which point the student will not be permitted to participate in the monthly reward program.
Students will start with a green card each day and it's their responsibility to maintain good behavior in the classroom and throughout the school building and grounds.
In addition to the monthly rewards, there are also two reward assemblies held throughout the year.
Students who remain on a green card every day leading up to the assembly are awarded with attendance at the assembly where they are recognized for maintaining positive behavior.
The September Think First monthly reward will be an Oct. 5 concert by Jim McCarthy titled "We Care."
Students who do not flip their card will be invited to attend the assembly during the school day.

Sheckler is participating in a program called Cartridges for Kids.
This is a recycling program that will pay cash to the school for your old electronics that you may be looking to get rid of.
By recycling your old electronics such as cell phones, laptops, iPods, digital cameras and DVD movies, it can earn the school some cash. Also being collected to benefit the school in this way are old video games and consoles, empty laser and ink cartridges and scientific and graphing calculators.
Any donations you may have can be dropped of at Sheckler in a collection box.
