The Northampton Area High School Big "N" Band will host the 2012 Festival of Bands 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, in Al Erdosy Stadium.

Eight area high school bands will take the field in competition. Spectators will see the debut performance of the Northampton Area Middle School Little "N" Band's 2012 field show "Dragons Journey."

The Big "N" Band will close out the night with its 2012 field show "Chronometry."

Tickets are available at the gate. Parking is free.

Meet teachers of gifted students: The Northampton Area High School library will host a Meet the Teacher Night Wednesday, Oct. 3, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Parents of identified gifted students are invited to the first NPAGE (Northampton chapter of the Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education) program of the new school year.

Meet the gifted support teachers and guidance counselors who will be working with your student and learn about the programs students will be experiencing this year. Presentations will be divided into breakout sessions by grade level.

The group will briefly discuss NPAGE activities for the remainder of this school year.

PTAs to meet: Moore and Lehigh PTAs meet Monday, Oct. 1.

The Moore meeting is at 9:30 a.m. and Lehigh meets at 6:30 p.m.

The George Wolf PTA will meet Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. All are invited.

Odyssey of the Mind: A parent information night for Odyssey of the Mind will be held at the Siegfried Elementary School 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3.

This is an important meeting for parents of students involved.
