As the 2012-2013 school year picks up speed, the many events and activities offered at Emmaus High School follow suit.

Meet the teacher and parents' night will be held in the EHS cafeteria 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 27. The night will feature a club fair with displays from various clubs and organizations within the school, in addition to the opportunity for parents to become acquainted with their students' teachers, as well as classroom expectations.

School will be closed Sept. 26 due to Yom Kippur.

On Sept 28, there will be a 10-minute extended homeroom for freshman class officer elections.

The girls volleyball team will host the fourth annual Dig Pink Celebration benefit event Oct. 2 at EHS. All proceeds will be donated to the Side-Out Foundation, an organization that raises money for breast cancer research through various tournaments and rallies. Concessions will be sold at the tournament, as well as event T-shirts, which will also benefit the Side-Out Foundation.

The World Language Honor Society Induction Ceremony will be held in the EHS auditorium 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 4.

The SAT and Subject tests will be administered 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Oct. 6. Students are reminded to bring extra number two pencils, calculators, snacks and to eat a balanced breakfast in preparation for the exam.

There will be no school Oct. 8.

Students unhappy with their yearbook photos may attend picture retake day 7 to 11 a.m. Oct. 11 in the EHS auditorium.

Homecoming week at EHS is Oct. 15 through 19, sponsored by the Student Government Association. Monday will be neon/pink day; Tuesday will be favorite sports team day, Wednesday will be western day, Thursday will be superhero day and Friday will be school spirit day. Students are encouraged to show their spirit by participating in the highly anticipated Spirit Week.

The SGA annual powder-puff football game will be held in the EHS stadium 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 16.

The PSAT/NMSQT test will be administered 8 a.m. Oct. 20. All college-bound students are encouraged to take the test. Registration for the exam will occur in the counseling office until Oct. 10. There is a cost and checks may be made payable to Emmaus High School.

The Homecoming Dance will be held in the EHS cafeteria 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 20.

There will be a comedy improv night in the black box theater held by the EHS Drama Department 7 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25.

There will be an Act 80 day Nov 2. Students will be dismissed 11 a.m.

SAT and Subject tests will be offered again 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Nov 3.

The Emmaus High School Drama Department will present its production of Shakespeare's "Macbeth" Nov 8 to 10. EPSD Gold Card holders may present their gold cards to the main office to receive a complimentary ticket.

Congratulations to the National Merit Scholar semifinalists: Daniel Brndjar, Terence Cawley, Thomas Fang, Ryan Jaeger, Connor Maake and Neeraj Tatikola.
